原标题：沈阳环球教育：用简单词汇在雅思作文中写出地道表达
“…使某人能够…”是雅思写作中反复要用到的表达，尤其是在写观点句的时候。但沈阳环球教育（原环球雅思）栗源锶老师发现很多烤鸭常常在这个表达上犯错误，导致失分。其实只要用好最基本的词汇，就可以把这个必备表达写地道。
许多同学的第一反应就是将“使”直接译为make或let，比如翻译这个句子：去海外旅游使人们能够深入了解外国文化。一半以上的同学会使用“make”这个词，将其翻译成：
Travelling overseas makes people gain an insight into foreign cultures.
这是由于汉语和英文的语言差异导致的，“使”在中文里一般是让某人能够，而英文里的“make”很多时候有强迫的意味。出国旅游并不会“强迫”人们去体验文化，所以这种翻译是不对的。
那怎样翻译才“…使某人能够…”是正确的呢，native speakers一般会用以下四种方法表达：
方法一、sth.allows/enables sb.to do sth.
这样刚才的句子就可以翻译成：Travelling overseas enables/allows people to gain an insight into foreign cultures.
再来做两个翻译练习：
1.现代科技让富人积累财富（accumulate wealth）更加容易。
Modern technology has allowed rich people to accumulate wealth more easily.
2.远程教育提供了一个平台，使得学生都有机会接触到先进的学习资源。
Distance-learning programs provide students a platform that enables them to have equal access to advanced learning materials.
方法二、Sth.makes it difficult/easy/possible(for sb.)to do sth.（对某人来说）做某事很难/很容易/是有可能的。
刚才的句子也可以翻译成：去海外旅游使人们能够深入了解外国文化。
Travelling overseas makes it easy for people to gain an insight into foreign cultures.
翻译练习：经常做运动帮助人们保持一个健康的心态，使他们更容易应对压力。
Doing exercise regularly helps people maintain a healthy state of mind and makes it easier for them to cope with stress.
方法三、Sth.provides sb.with opportunities to do sth.
句子结构：主语(sth.)+及物动词(provides)+宾语（sb.）+宾语补足语（with opportunities to…）
“去海外旅游使人们能够深入了解外国文化”也可以翻译成：
Travelling overseas provides people with opportunities to gain an insight into foreign cultures.
翻译练习：社区改造为罪犯提供了获得职业技能的机会。
Community service provides offenders with opportunities to acquire transferable skills.
transferable skills可迁移的技能、可转换的技能就是在多个领域都通用的技能。
方法四、Sth.makes sb./sth.adj./n.
句子结构：主语（sth.）+及物动词(makes)+宾语(sb./sth.)+宾语补足语(adj./n.)
注意：make sb do sth.这一表达有强制的意思，与make+宾语+宾语补足语不同。
去海外旅游使人们更开明（open-minded）
Travelling overseas makes people open-minded.
翻译练习：学习哲学使人明智。
Learning philosophy makes people wise.
总结：“…使某人能够…”句型有如下四个：
1.Sth.enables/allows sb.to do sth.
2.Sth.makes it easy/possible(for sb.)to do sth.
3.Sth.provides sb.with opportunities to do sth.
4.Sth.makes sb./sth.adj./n.
